Panther Metals (LSE:PALM) has started drill pad preparations at the Wishbone and Awkward prospects on its Obonga Project in Ontario, advancing toward a planned c.2,000-metre diamond drilling programme announced in February.
Panther Metals, the exploration company focused on mineral projects in Canada, says the work targets Wishbone, an emerging zinc‑copper volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) system, and Awkward, an interpreted magmatic conduit prospective for nickel, copper and platinum group elements.
The pad preparation work is covered by Wishbone Exploration Permit PR-24-000022, valid to 20 June 2027, and Awkward Exploration Permit PR-24-000076, valid to 17 July 2027.
Earlier Panther drilling at Wishbone intercepted multiple sulphide lenses including a 27.3m massive sulphide interval and a 51m sulphide‑dominated zone, with assays as high as 11.65% Zn.
At Awkward historical surface sampling returned Pd+Pt up to 1.23 g/t and 2022 drilling intersected 27.2m at 2.25% total graphitic carbon, supporting the interpretation of a sulphide‑bearing magmatic conduit.
"We are pleased to be commencing drill pad construction works at both the Wishbone and Awkward prospects, a key milestone as we move decisively toward our upcoming drilling programme," said Chief Executive Darren Hazelwood.
Clearing of vegetation and drill pad construction will commence onsite during the coming week under the direction of geological contractor Bayside Geoscience Inc.
