Thor Energy (AIM:THR), the AIM and ASX-listed natural hydrogen and helium explorer, has awarded a major seismic acquisition contract to Australian contractor Velseis Pty for its 80.2%-owned HY-Range project in South Australia, targeting the Torrens Hinge Zone as a priority exploration area.
The programme will acquire approximately 464 line-kilometres of 2D seismic data, with fieldwork scheduled between the third and fourth quarters of 2026.
Thor said the survey is designed to provide depth control over basement rocks believed to generate hydrogen and helium, map fault systems that govern gas migration, and confirm existing leads ahead of drilling.
The seismic data will be integrated with existing gravity, magnetic and passive datasets, as well as Phase 2 soil-air geochemistry results that recorded natural hydrogen readings of up to 3%.
Thor said the programme is fully funded from existing cash reserves following a series of non-core asset disposals.
"By illuminating the Torrens Hinge Zone, we will finally be able to tie our surface geochemistry results to the deep basement structures that generate and focus these gases," said Managing Director Andrew Hume.
Thor and Velseis will finalise a full operational contract in the coming weeks, with further timing updates expected once regulatory and environmental permitting is complete.
