Prospex Energy (LSE:PXEN) has been awarded the Dunajec onshore licence in southern Poland by its subsidiary PXEN Tatra, adding to the San licence announced on 1 April and giving the group two contiguous licences in a proven gas-producing region.
Dunajec sits in the Carpathian foredeep and contains a historical shallow oil discovery. Multiple 1966 wells logged a 13m oil pay at about 600m and a mapped oil‑water contact implying c.2 mmbbl OOIP; the Mniszów-3 well produced 45 bbl/d in a cased-hole acidised test but the field was never developed.
PXEN Tatra holds a 100% working interest in both San and Dunajec. Prospex says it is assembling historical data and will apply modern imaging, evaluation and development techniques, while intending to introduce joint-venture partners to progress work programmes.
"The formal award of Dunajec means that Prospex has been awarded both licences it applied for in Poland which, together with San, provides highly attractive prospectivity. Both licences are located within one of Poland's most prolific gas regions, with Dunajec also presenting near-term development potential through the Mniscow undeveloped oil discovery," said Tom Reynolds, Prospex's CEO.
