Sealand Capital Galaxy (LSE:SCGL), the London-listed investment company, has acquired an approximately 2.0% minority interest in WanelCapital for a cash consideration of £450,000.

The stake was bought alongside other investors as part of Wanel's seed funding round.

Wanel is a regulated Web3 digital financial infrastructure business operating through licensed entities in Hong Kong and Europe, including Switzerland.

Its offering spans digital payment infrastructure, foreign exchange, cross-border settlement, digital asset custody, treasury services and stablecoin-enabled products for business and institutional customers.

The deal supports Sealand's stated strategy of building exposure to regulated digital financial infrastructure, complementing its existing activities in artificial intelligence, SaaS, computing infrastructure and energy-related technologies.

Wanel's Swiss operations give Sealand a foothold in one of Europe's established centres for regulated digital asset and payments regulation.

Beyond the equity stake, the two companies intend to explore commercial collaboration across Europe and Asia, combining expertise in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence and financial technology.

Areas under consideration include AI-driven compliance automation, fraud detection, risk management and customer onboarding within payment systems.

"Our investment in Wanel expands Sealand's exposure to one of the most dynamic areas of financial technology", said Daniel Cao, chief executive of Sealand Capital Galaxy.

He added that the company sees "considerable opportunities at the convergence of artificial intelligence and digital financial infrastructure" as financial services continue to digitise.

No timeline or financial terms have been set for any future commercial collaboration between the two companies.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Sealand Capital Galaxy has deployed £450,000 for a 2% stake in Wanel, a regulated Web3 payments and stablecoin infrastructure business with licensed operations in Hong Kong, Switzerland and Europe. The investment aligns with Sealand's stated strategy to build exposure to regulated digital financial infrastructure and opens a door to potential AI-driven collaboration in compliance, fraud detection and risk management—though no commercial terms or timeline have been set. The cheque size is modest relative to Sealand's recent activity: it equals 7% of the £6.6m Brilliant Glow acquisition agreed in July and sits well below the £1.98m deposit already paid on that deal.

Investment case

This is a small, early-stage exposure to a regulated fintech infrastructure play that fits Sealand's stated pivot toward AI-enabled digital finance. The lack of binding commercial terms and the seed-stage nature of Wanel mean the investment is primarily a strategic positioning move rather than a near-term earnings driver; value will depend on Wanel's execution and whether any collaboration materialises.
