Symphony Environmental Technologies (AIM:SYM), in a statement ahead of its Annual General Meeting, highlighted to investors that it generated a profit for the first half of 2026, supported by a 23% rise in revenue and a 40% increase in gross profit.

The AIM-listed group, which develops additives and technologies to enhance the environmental performance of plastics, said the improvement reflects strategic and operational changes made during 2025, including tighter cost control and greater operating leverage.

"Trading in H1 2026 demonstrates the early validation of the group's repositioned operating model", the company said in the statement, pointing to improved margin quality and disciplined costs following last year's restructuring.

The company said its shift to a Symphony-controlled sales model in the Middle East, working with a regional manufacturing partner, has strengthened execution and margin quality for its biodegradable d2w technology, despite disruption from well-publicised regional unrest.

In India, a new biodegradability standard has given the group a clearer route to certification, a step management views as key to unlocking what it considers a significant medium-term market.

Symphony's d2p technology platform, covering insecticidal, antimicrobial, odour-control and flame-retardant applications, continues to generate repeat orders, with its insecticidal product remaining the main revenue driver.

The group expects to announce interim results during the first half of September.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Symphony Environmental swung to first-half 2026 profit on 23% revenue growth and 40% gross profit expansion, validating a 2025 restructuring that tightened costs and improved operating leverage. The company is executing a repositioned sales model in the Middle East for its d2w biodegradable technology and has a clearer certification pathway in India, while its d2p platform (insecticidal, antimicrobial, odour-control, flame-retardant) continues generating repeat orders. This marks a turnaround from the margin-building losses reported earlier in 2026, and comes as £1.5m of convertible loans extend to January 2027, buying runway for the repositioned model to prove itself.

Investment case

The profit swing and margin gains suggest the 2025 restructuring is working, but the company remains early-stage in unlocking its India market opportunity and scaling the Middle East model. Interim results in September will be critical to confirm whether H1 momentum holds and whether the d2p repeat-order base is expanding.
