Cobra Resources (LSE:COBR) has appointed Stephen McIntosh as Strategic and Technical Advisor, tasking him with advancing its Heavy Rare Earth in-situ recovery project through technical and economic studies and accelerating exploration at its Manna Hill Copper Project in South Australia.

McIntosh brings 39 years of resources-sector experience, including 33 years at Rio Tinto where he rose to Group Executive for Growth and Innovation, overseeing exploration, project studies, construction, and data science globally.

Since retiring from Rio Tinto in late 2020, McIntosh has built an active advisory portfolio: he currently counsels EMR Capital and Andina Copper, chairs the project advisory committee at Chalice Mining advancing its Gonneville palladium-nickel-copper project, and sits on the board of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.

Managing Director Rupert Verco said McIntosh's background across "exploration discovery, project development and technical innovation is first class" and will prove "invaluable when advising the team through commercial strategy, project studies and delivering project value."

McIntosh described Cobra's heavy rare earth project as "unique" and flagged Manna Hill's "potential for a significant discovery."
