EnergyPathways (AIM:EPP) announced the appointment of Martyn Millwood Hargrave as Chief Scientific Adviser to the CEO and board, saying the hire strengthens its technical, strategic and policy capability as it advances the MESH project.
He is described as a geoscientist, entrepreneur and strategic adviser with more than 40 years' experience. Millwood Hargrave founded and served as CEO of subsurface software group Ikon Science (acquired by Constellation Software in 2025), he's a Visiting Professor in Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford, and a Senior Associate at Oxford Net Zero.
At EnergyPathways, he will support technical, strategic and policy development across subsurface systems, integrated energy infrastructure, hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation and graphite value-chain opportunities linked to MESH.
MESH, which EnergyPathways says is expected to be Britain’s largest integrated energy storage project and has been designated a project of "national significance" by the UK Government, combines compressed air electrical storage with subsea natural gas and hydrogen storage off Barrow-in-Furness.
Ben Clube, EnergyPathways CEO, said: "His background will be highly valuable as we advance MESH and broaden the strategic relevance of the project, including its potential role in long duration energy storage, hydrogen and graphite-linked industrial opportunities."
