Oriole Resources (AIM:ORR), the AIM-quoted gold explorer focused on Cameroon and West Africa, reported rock-chip sampling results of up to 28.40g/t gold at its Niambaram licence, part of its 90%-owned Eastern Central Licence Package.
The Eastern package sits alongside Oriole's 50%-owned Mbe project, where the company reported a JORC Inferred Mineral Resource of 1.66 million ounces of gold last month. Mapping identified three mineralised zones at Niambaram tied to quartz veins and a 200-metre brecciated felsic dyke, in a geological setting the company says resembles Mbe.
"The latest rock-chip sampling results from the Company's Niambaram licence... are highly encouraging, especially as the gold bearing samples are in a similar geological setting to the Mbe deposits," said chief executive Martin Rosser.
At the neighbouring Ndom licence, an infill soil and auger sampling programme returned only two measurable gold results from rock-chip sampling, which Oriole attributes to alluvial cover masking mineralisation beneath.
Soil and auger samples from both licences will be analysed later this year using detectORE, a portable XRF technology from Portable PPB that Oriole has ordered for field-based gold analysis, with results expected in the second half of the year.
Separately, Oriole's three Western Central Licence Package licences, held through Reservoir Cameroon SARL, have been revoked following access issues and are unlikely to return to the Mining Cadastre due to competing hunting concession claims.
The company said it had committed minimal funding to those licences since their voluntary suspension in 2023.
