ATOME (AIM:ATOM) extended the longstop date for funding its US$650 million Villeta low‑carbon fertiliser plant in Paraguay to Friday 24 April, with a further announcement expected this week.

The funding relates to the 260,000 tonnes‑per‑year Villeta facility, and ATOME describes itself as the world‑leading low‑carbon fertiliser developer and the UK's only dedicated international industrial scale low‑carbon fertiliser company, the company said.

Villeta benefits from a 145MW renewable power purchase agreement and a 10‑year definitive offtake agreement with Yara International covering all of the plant's production.

ATOME announced Hy24 as the anchor and lead equity investor in early 2025 and has a US$465 million fixed‑price EPC contract signed with Casale S.A., and the company is negotiating project finance with a view to commencing work in 2026.

The group also notes a wider Paraguayan pipeline, including 445MW of projects and a further up to 300MW of renewable power reserved for ATOME.
