Gulf Marine Services (LSE:GMS), a provider of self-propelled, self-elevating support vessels to the offshore energy industry, has signed a four-year charter for one of its self-elevating accommodation units, to be deployed offshore Brazil.

The contract, agreed with an international offshore accommodation services provider, covers 1,461 days of firm charter.

It builds on GMS's entry into Latin America, first announced on 5 May.

The vessel is due to be delivered to the charterer in Rio de Janeiro between August and November.

"This four-year charter secures long-term utilization for one of our newest vessels and strengthens our growing presence in Latin America", said Mansour Al Alami, Executive Chairman of GMS.

He added that the deal "reflects strong global demand for high-quality self-elevating units and validates our strategy of diversifying into new markets."

GMS operates a fleet of 15 self-elevating support vessels, among the youngest in the industry, used across offshore platform maintenance, well intervention and wind turbine installation work.

Delivery of the Brazil-bound unit is expected between August and November.
