First Class Metals (LSE:FCM) reported a bonanza-grade intercept with visible gold in drill hole SUN-26-05 at the Roy prospect, with a provisional photon assay of 0.3m at 45 g/t gold.

The UK-listed explorer focused on Ontario said provisional fire assays have been received for holes SUN-26-01 to SUN-26-04 while photon assays confirm high-grade in SUN-26-05 and SUN-26-06.

Fire assays for the first four holes contain anomalous to +2 g/t Au including SUN-26-01 ~2m @ 1.3 g/t Au and SUN-26-02 1.1m @ 2.3 g/t Au, while photon results show SUN-26-06 giving 0.6m @ 2.2 g/t Au and SUN-26-05 the 0.3m @ 45 g/t Au, with fire assays for holes 05 and 06 still pending and discrepancies possible given coarse gold.

All 12 holes drilled intersected the targeted structure, confirming a potentially mineralised package over a strike length exceeding 300m and remaining open along strike.

A very low frequency (VLF) survey has identified multiple additional conductors along strike, and the company plans to extend the VLF grid to the northeast and commence VLF at the Pettigrew lineament in early May.

"The initial assay results from the drilling at Roy have vindicated our belief that the Sunbeam property contains significant gold potential," said Marc J. Sale, CEO.

Visible gold is associated with galena and soil and lake-sediment anomalies-including a 111 ppb lake sample and +1ppm grab samples along strike-supporting the company’s expectation of an extensive mineralised trend, and further assay results are pending with updates to follow.
