Gulf Keystone Petroleum said gross production at its Shaikan field has ramped up to more than 43,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) following the restart of production and exports on 24 June.

The company, a leading independent oil operator and producer in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, said well activities are underway to bring further incremental production online in the coming weeks.

Gulf Keystone said it continues to monitor the security environment in Kurdistan and the wider region closely.

The company said it is pursuing sustainable export sales at international prices and is in constructive talks to implement long-term export agreements. It is also maintaining strict cost control while continuing discussions with Kurdistan's Ministry of Natural Resources on a revised Shaikan Field Development Plan.
