Focus Xplore completes gold portfolio acquisition, repositions as North American explorer

by tickstock newsroom · Editor JMA

Focus Xplore (AIM:FOX) has completed the acquisition of a portfolio of five greenfield gold properties spanning approximately 86.44 square kilometres across Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario, which the company is calling its Gold Portfolio.

The properties are Clarkdon, Garden Lake and Kearns in Ontario, targeting orogenic and banded iron formation gold with base-metal potential, and Canada Bay and O'Brien in Newfoundland, targeting shear-hosted and sediment-hosted gold.

The O'Brien property sits within 10 kilometres of New Found Gold Corp's Queensway deposit, which holds an indicated mineral resource of 1.39m ounces of gold, while the remainder of the Garden Lake Greenstone Belt outside Focus Xplore's holdings has recently been consolidated by Kenorland Minerals Ltd.

Phase one exploration, covering soil sampling, prospecting and lake sediment sampling across the five properties, will start in Ontario in mid-October and extend to the Newfoundland assets in early-to-mid November.

Martlet stands to earn a £50,000 exploration management fee, payable in cash or shares at the group's discretion, on achieving any two of three milestones: completing phase-one work on at least two properties, identifying a drill target, or returning surface sampling results of at least 1.0 g/t gold or a coherent geochemical anomaly.

Where the fee is settled in shares, the price will be set at the 10-day volume-weighted average price ending on the day the second milestone is reached.

Focus Xplore has also set out a wider strategy shift, retaining three lithium properties, Pearl, Iva and Biscuit Creek, and one rare earth elements property, Bay Road, where it plans further low-cost sampling work worth roughly £20,000 combined to keep licences in good standing and refine understanding of existing data.

The board intends to pursue a sale, joint venture or other value-realising option for those lithium and critical-minerals assets, while building a dedicated artificial intelligence subsidiary aimed at sharpening geological targeting, which it intends to become self-funding and potentially licensable to third parties.

Taken together, the board frames its strategy as repositioning Focus Xplore as a North American gold explorer, built around the newly acquired Ontario and Newfoundland ground.

Jack Dann has joined the board as Chief Geological Officer to lead exploration and bring direct knowledge of the Gold Portfolio, having previously served as Technical Director for Fermi Exploration and worked at AIM-listed Power Metal Resources across its multi-commodity portfolio.

Dann, 37, holds an interest of 8.33% in Focus Xplore's issued share capital, held indirectly through Martlet.

A full technical overview of each property is due to be provided to the market in due course.
