First Development Resources (AIM:FDR), the Australia-focused exploration company, has completed the first stage of its Phase I reverse circulation drilling programme at the Lander West Prospect.
The work forms part of the wholly owned Selta Project in Australia's Northern Territory.
Eight RC holes were drilled for a total of 1,593 metres, alongside detailed geological mapping and 243 rock-chip samples collected across the southern part of the prospect.
All drill and rock-chip samples have been sent to ALS Geochemistry in Adelaide for laboratory analysis.
Six holes targeted coincident magnetic, chargeability and geochemical anomalies in the southern target area, intersecting multiple pegmatite intervals, quartz veining and a mix of metasedimentary and mafic rocks, though the source of the southern magnetic anomaly remains unconfirmed.
Two holes tested a separate magnetic anomaly to the north, intersecting mafic rocks and localised sulphide-bearing intervals that point to a distinct geological setting from the south.
The programme, announced on 13 July, was designed for up to 3,000 metres of drilling in stages, with early results steering subsequent targeting.
"The completion of this maiden Phase I drilling represents an important milestone for First Development Resources, marking the first programme to systematically test our priority exploration targets at depth at Lander West," said chief executive Tristan Pottas.
Assay results will be integrated with the geological and geophysical datasets to refine the model and prioritise the next stage of exploration, with a further update to follow once results are received.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
FDR has completed the first stage of Phase I drilling at Lander West, drilling 1,593 metres across eight holes and collecting 243 rock-chip samples. Assay results remain pending, so the exploration outcome is unknown; the milestone is procedural—the company has moved from regulatory approval (granted in April) to active drilling execution, but cannot yet claim any ore-grade discovery or resource definition.
Completion of maiden drilling is a necessary step toward validating the Lander West target, but tells investors nothing about mineralization quality or economic viability until assays return. The company remains in early-stage exploration with no revenue-generating assets; this programme's value depends entirely on what the pending results show.
