Amigo Resources (LSE:AMGO), the junior miner with a 51% interest in the Mojimoto and Kabete operations on Tanzania's Lake Victoria goldfield, told investors that all major processing equipment has now arrived on-site as both facilities move from pilot to commercial-scale production.
The expansion will lift combined processing capacity to approximately 600 tonnes per day, split evenly between the two sites, once installation completes in early October.
In July, Amigo commissioned the original pilot facilities, each designed to process around 200,000 tonnes of tailings annually and targeting around 20kg of gold a month; the company reported its first 5kg of gold from that pilot work before the end of July, and in August it marked 10kg from its primary gravity circuit.
That monthly reporting cadence, in place since the pilot facilities began producing, will now pause.
Amigo said monthly production, sales and revenue figures will not be published during the installation and transition phase, resuming once the new 600 tonne-per-day circuits are commissioned and commercial output begins.
The new plants are designed to treat both freshly mined ore and historical tailings simultaneously, and will incorporate circuits to capture a platinum group metals (PGM) bearing concentrate alongside gold output.
That concentrate feeds into a separate evaluation already underway with Amigo and partner AK Corporation have mobilised a smelting and induction furnace in Tanzania to test a pyrometallurgical route combining PGM concentrate with copper and sulphur-bearing material into a saleable copper matte. It noted that the plan remains subject to engineering, environmental and regulatory approval.
Startup of the leaching circuits also awaits final regulatory clearance covering the chemicals used in the process, it added.
"Whilst the operations do not have JORC Reserve or JORC Resource... our internal forecast is for gold recovery of between 2.5 grams and 3.0 grams per ton of ore processed," said Craig Ransley, Amigo's executive chair.
He added that at the installed 300 tonne-per-day capacity, each plant is forecast to produce between 20kg and 25kg of gold a month. Both facilities are expected to move into commercial production during the fourth quarter, subject to completing commissioning and securing the outstanding environmental clearances.
