Man Group (LSE:EMG) announced on Monday that it will expand its strategic partnership with Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance, with the Japanese insurer intending to lift its capital commitment to Man Group's investment strategies to JPY 200 billion, approximately $1.25 billion, over the next three years.
The London-listed alternative investment manager said the increased commitment will focus particularly on its private credit capabilities, building on a partnership the two firms first announced in February 2025.
Meiji Yasuda will also consider acquiring an equity stake of approximately 5% in Man Group to further align the two companies' interests.
Man Group and Meiji Yasuda will also work together to develop new products for the Japanese market, with Man Group becoming a preferred asset management partner and Meiji Yasuda gaining access to the Oxford-Man Institute for investment advisory services and knowledge sharing on topics including technology.
Man Group said the deepened relationship supports its strategic ambitions to grow its private credit platform and serve large insurance clients globally.
"Meiji Yasuda's increased commitment to our investment strategies underlines our capabilities in private credit and demonstrates our ability to serve large insurance clients globally," said Robyn Grew, chief executive officer of Man Group.
The announcement follows a third quarter in which Man Group reported record assets under management of $270.9 billion as at 30 September, up from $253.6 billion at the end of June, driven by net inflows of $10.1 billion and positive investment performance of $5.9 billion.
